to Brookline (Mass.) carried by KLM/KNILM to Sydney, TEA (Tasman Empire
Airways) to Auckland and PAA Clipper across the Pacific, subjected to
Thai and Australian censorship. June 1941. Franked with 1.75 baht for
letter rate up to 5g. by airmail to USA by PAA's Auckland clipper
service. Cancelled Bangkok GPO 14-6-41, Thai black circular hand stamp
10, and black hand stamp A.V.2 Smythe Type 6 struck on at P.O. Sydney
black hand stamp 6mm. high CALIFORNIA CLIPPER applied. Letter thence
recensored, resealed with tape 2 "OPENED BY CENSOR" Smythe type 2-5
tied by violet hand stamp PASSED BY CENSOR S118 (on front and back)
before being sent to USA. 14-6-41 was a Saturday, KLM flight in June
1941 left on Sundays at 8.15 am. PAA left Auckland every 2 weeks on
Fridays arriving in San Francisco 4 days later. Letter would have been
flown across USA back stamped Brookline 2.30pm 17 Jul. 1941, a Friday.
