V: THE JUBILEE ISSUE

In November 1908, the 1 att, 3 atts, 4 atts on 5 atts, 8 atts and 18 atts of the fourth issue were surcharged with “Jubilee 1868-1908” both in Siamese and English to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 40th  anniversary of King Chulalongkorn’s Coronation.  In addition to these low values, a high value was printed with the design of an Equestrian Statue of King Chulalongkorn, which was to be unveiled that day in honour of him reigning longer than any of his predecessors of the Chakri Dynasty.
